Shared, Cloud & Reseller Hosting

Web Hosting

Everything about our shared, business, cloud, reseller and WordPress hosting plans.

14 FAQs
+ What is web hosting?
Web hosting is a service that stores your website files and makes them accessible on the internet. When someone visits your domain, the hosting server delivers your website content to their browser. OBHost provides fast, reliable hosting with free SSL, cPanel, NVMe storage, and 24/7 support.
+ Which web hosting plan is right for me?
Choose based on your needs:

Business Hosting — personal sites, portfolios, small businesses
Cloud Hosting — high-traffic sites, better performance
Agency Hosting — for agencies managing multiple client sites
Reseller Hosting — if you want to sell hosting to your own clients
Managed WordPress — optimised specifically for WordPress
Node.js Hosting — for JavaScript/Node.js applications

Not sure? Contact sales — we'll recommend the right plan.
+ What control panel does OBHost use?
OBHost uses cPanel for shared and reseller hosting — the industry-standard control panel trusted by millions of websites. cPanel includes file management, email, databases, SSL, backups and one-click app installers. For VPS and dedicated, you can choose cPanel, Plesk, DirectAdmin or no panel.
+ Do you offer free SSL certificates?
Yes — every hosting plan includes free Let's Encrypt SSL certificates with automatic renewal. SSL is automatically provisioned for all domains added to your cPanel account. For stronger validation (OV, EV, Wildcard), paid SSL certificates are also available.
+ Is cPanel included with hosting?
Yes — cPanel is included free with all shared, cloud, agency, reseller and managed WordPress hosting plans. For VPS/dedicated, cPanel is available as a separately licensed add-on starting from monthly pricing.
+ What is the difference between shared hosting and VPS?
Shared hosting means multiple websites share the same server resources (cost-effective, easy to use, limited customisation). VPS (Virtual Private Server) gives you dedicated resources and full root/admin access on an isolated virtual machine (more powerful, more control, requires technical knowledge).
+ Can I host multiple websites on one plan?
Yes — most OBHost plans support multiple websites (addon domains). Business Hosting typically allows 1-5 domains depending on the plan, while Cloud and Agency Hosting allow more. Reseller Hosting is designed specifically for managing many client accounts.
+ Does OBHost support WordPress?
Absolutely. All OBHost hosting plans support WordPress with one-click installation via Softaculous. For optimal WordPress performance, we also offer Managed WordPress Hosting with LiteSpeed caching, automatic backups, staging environments and WordPress-optimised infrastructure.
+ What is LiteSpeed and why does it matter?
LiteSpeed is a high-performance web server software — up to 6x faster than Apache and highly efficient with PHP/WordPress workloads. OBHost uses LiteSpeed Enterprise on most hosting servers, giving your websites significantly faster load times and better handling of traffic spikes.
+ Do you offer daily backups?
Yes — OBHost performs automated daily backups of all shared and reseller hosting accounts, retained for 7-14 days depending on the plan. Customers can also create on-demand backups from cPanel, or purchase our premium managed backup service for longer retention periods.
+ Can I upgrade or downgrade my plan later?
Yes — you can upgrade to a higher plan at any time through your client area. Downgrades are also supported but may require technical review to ensure your account fits within the new plan's limits. Contact support for assistance.
+ What are iNode limits?
iNodes are filesystem entries — every file, folder, email and database row counts as one iNode. OBHost shared hosting plans include generous iNode limits (typically 250,000-500,000 depending on plan). Most websites never hit this limit unless they store massive numbers of small files.
+ What PHP versions do you support?
OBHost supports all modern PHP versions including PHP 7.4, 8.0, 8.1, 8.2, 8.3 and 8.4. You can switch PHP versions per-domain directly from cPanel using MultiPHP Manager. Older PHP versions (5.6, 7.0-7.3) are available for legacy sites but not recommended.
+ Is hosting allowed for adult content or gambling?
Adult content is not permitted on shared, reseller or managed WordPress hosting. Legal adult content may be hosted on VPS, dedicated servers or colocation, subject to local law. Gambling websites require proper licensing and compliance review. See our Acceptable Use Policy for full details.

VPS, Dedicated Servers & Colocation

VPS & Dedicated Servers

Virtual and bare metal server questions — deployment, management, performance.

12 FAQs
+ What is a VPS (Virtual Private Server)?
A VPS is a virtualised server that provides dedicated CPU, RAM, storage and network resources on a physical host. You get full root/administrator access to customise the operating system, install any software, and configure the server to your exact needs — all at a fraction of the cost of a dedicated server.
+ How long does VPS deployment take?
OBHost KVM VPS deployments are fully automated and complete in about 60 seconds after successful payment. You'll receive an email with your VPS IP address, root password and management panel login. Windows VPS may take 2-5 minutes due to the Windows provisioning process.
+ What is KVM virtualisation?
KVM (Kernel-based Virtual Machine) is a hardware-assisted virtualisation technology that provides true resource isolation. Unlike OpenVZ or container-based virtualisation, KVM gives each VPS its own dedicated kernel, making it far more flexible and secure. All OBHost VPS products use KVM.
+ What operating systems can I install on a VPS?
OBHost KVM Linux VPS supports: Ubuntu (20.04, 22.04, 24.04), Debian (11, 12), CentOS Stream, AlmaLinux, Rocky Linux, Fedora, and custom ISO uploads. Windows VPS supports Windows Server 2016, 2019, 2022 (and Windows 10/11 for Remote Desktop use cases). All available on-demand from the VPS panel.
+ What is the difference between VPS and dedicated server?
VPS: Virtualised resources on a shared physical host, full root access, flexible scaling, lower cost.

Dedicated Server: Entire physical server exclusively yours, maximum performance, complete hardware customisation, higher cost. Choose dedicated for mission-critical workloads, heavy database operations, or specific hardware requirements.
+ Do your VPS plans include DDoS protection?
Yes — all OBHost VPS plans include DDoS protection at varying levels depending on the location:

Germany, France, Poland, USA, Canada — Advanced DDoS protection (enterprise-grade filtering)
Singapore — Protected tier
Pakistan — Basic DDoS protection (OBHost-owned infrastructure)
Dubai, Saudi Arabia — Advanced DDoS protection
+ Can I upgrade VPS resources later?
Yes — VPS plans can be upgraded to higher tiers through your client area. RAM, CPU and disk upgrades are typically applied with minimal downtime (brief reboot required). Downgrades are also supported but require a review to ensure your current usage fits within the new plan.
+ Do VPS plans include a control panel?
OBHost VPS is delivered with full root access. Control panels (cPanel, Plesk, DirectAdmin) are available as optional add-ons with separate licensing. You can install any open-source control panel yourself (HestiaCP, aaPanel, Webmin) for free.
+ Can I host gaming servers on a VPS?
Yes — OBHost offers dedicated Game Servers optimised for popular games like Counter-Strike, Minecraft, TeamSpeak, Rust, and more. You can also run game servers on KVM VPS or dedicated servers. Choose low-latency locations close to your player base.
+ What is AI/GPU Dedicated hosting?
OBHost's AI/GPU Dedicated Servers feature NVIDIA GPUs optimised for machine learning, AI model training, inference workloads, rendering, and scientific computing. These are not general-purpose mining rigs and are provisioned specifically for AI/ML use cases.
+ Do you offer colocation services?
Yes — OBHost offers Colocation in Karachi, Multan, Frankfurt and New York. Plans include 1U, Half Rack (21U), Full Rack (42U) and Private Cage. Pricing starts from $49/month for 1U. Colocation includes power, cooling, network connectivity, remote hands and 24/7 access.
+ What is a managed VPS?
A managed VPS includes server administration support from OBHost's technical team — including OS updates, security patching, control panel installation, performance optimisation, and proactive monitoring. Perfect for customers who need VPS power without managing the server themselves. Managed options are available as add-ons.

Domain Registration & Transfer

Domains

Domain registration, transfers, DNS management, WHOIS privacy and TLDs.

10 FAQs
+ How do I register a new domain name?
Visit our Domain Registration page, search for your desired domain, and follow the checkout process. Registration typically completes within 5-10 minutes. You can manage DNS records, set nameservers and configure auto-renewal from your client area.
+ What TLDs (domain extensions) does OBHost support?
OBHost supports 800+ TLDs including popular ones (.com, .net, .org, .io, .co, .me), country-specific (.pk, .co.uk, .de, .fr, .ae), new generic (.app, .dev, .shop, .online, .tech), and specialty TLDs. Pricing varies by TLD — see the pricing page for full list.
+ Can I transfer my domain to OBHost?
Yes — use our Domain Transfer service. You'll need the EPP/authorisation code from your current registrar. Transfers typically complete in 5-7 days and usually add one year to your existing registration period. Certain TLDs may have specific transfer requirements.
+ What is WHOIS privacy and do you offer it?
WHOIS privacy hides your personal contact information (name, address, email, phone) in the public WHOIS database by replacing it with privacy-proxy service details. OBHost offers free WHOIS privacy for most TLDs — enable it from your domain management panel.
+ Can I register a .PK domain?
Yes — OBHost is a .PK domain registrar. We support .pk, .com.pk, .net.pk, .org.pk, .edu.pk (for educational institutions), and other PKNIC TLDs. Certain .pk TLDs require additional documentation per PKNIC policy.
+ How do I change nameservers for my domain?
Log into your OBHost client area, go to Domains → Manage → Nameservers, and enter your custom nameservers. Changes typically propagate globally within 4-48 hours. When you buy hosting, we'll auto-configure the correct nameservers for you.
+ Do domains auto-renew?
Yes — by default, domains are set to automatic renewal 30 days before expiry using your saved payment method. You can disable auto-renewal from the domain management panel, but we strongly recommend keeping it enabled to avoid accidental domain expiration.
+ What happens if my domain expires?
After expiry, domains enter a 30-day grace period where you can still renew at regular price. After that, a 30-day redemption period allows renewal with an additional fee (~$80-100). After redemption, the domain is released and can be registered by anyone. Don't let this happen — enable auto-renewal.
+ Are domain registrations refundable?
No — domain registrations are non-refundable because we pay the fee directly to the registry (Verisign, Afilias, PKNIC, etc.) at the time of registration. This applies to new registrations, transfers and renewals. Make sure the domain is correct before submitting payment.
+ Can I get a free domain with hosting?
Yes — many OBHost annual hosting plans include a free domain registration for the first year. Eligible TLDs typically include .com, .net, .org, .info, .biz. Free domains renew at regular rates after the first year. Check the specific hosting plan for details.
🔒
SSL Certificates & HTTPS

SSL Certificates

SSL types, validation levels, installation and security for your websites.

8 FAQs
+ What is an SSL certificate and why do I need one?
An SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) certificate encrypts the connection between your visitors' browsers and your website server. It's required for: HTTPS enabled URLs, protection against eavesdropping, SEO ranking benefits (Google favours HTTPS), trust indicators (padlock icon), PCI-DSS compliance for e-commerce, and avoiding "Not Secure" browser warnings.
+ What types of SSL certificates does OBHost offer?
OBHost offers the full range:

DV (Domain Validated) — fast, automated, ideal for blogs/small sites
OV (Organisation Validated) — validates your business identity
EV (Extended Validation) — highest trust, green bar legacy
Wildcard SSL — secures unlimited subdomains
Multi-Domain (SAN) — secures multiple domains on one certificate
Code Signing — for software distribution

Browse the full SSL catalog.
+ Is SSL included with hosting plans?
Yes — every OBHost hosting plan includes free Let's Encrypt SSL with automatic provisioning and renewal. For higher trust levels or specific requirements (business validation, wildcard, warranty), paid commercial SSL certificates from Sectigo, DigiCert and other CAs are available.
+ What's the difference between DV, OV and EV SSL?
DV (Domain Validation): Verifies only that you control the domain — issued in minutes, lowest cost.

OV (Organisation Validation): Verifies your business identity through documentation — shows company name in certificate details, takes 1-3 days to issue.

EV (Extended Validation): Most thorough verification process, highest trust, company name traditionally displayed in browser bar. Takes 3-7 days to issue.
+ What is a Wildcard SSL certificate?
A Wildcard SSL secures a domain and all its subdomains with a single certificate. For example, a Wildcard for *.example.com secures www, mail, shop, blog, api and any other subdomain — all with one certificate. Ideal for sites with many subdomains.
+ How do I install an SSL certificate?
After purchase and validation, SSL certificates can be installed via:

cPanel → SSL/TLS → Install Certificate (for shared/reseller)
AutoSSL in cPanel for Let's Encrypt certificates (automatic)
Plesk → Domains → SSL Certificates (for Plesk VPS/dedicated)
Manual installation for Nginx/Apache/IIS on unmanaged servers

OBHost support will install SSL for you free of charge — just open a ticket.
+ Are SSL certificates refundable?
Commercial SSL certificates are refundable within the first 14 days if they have not yet been issued by the Certificate Authority. Once the CA issues the certificate (after domain/business validation), refunds are no longer possible because we cannot return the certificate to the CA.
+ Does SSL affect website speed?
With modern TLS 1.3 and HTTP/2, the speed impact of SSL is negligible or even faster than HTTP due to HTTP/2 multiplexing and header compression. Modern browsers strongly prefer HTTPS, and Google uses HTTPS as a ranking signal — so there's no reason not to use SSL.

Business Email & Productivity

Email Hosting

Email plans, Microsoft 365, Google Workspace and email delivery.

8 FAQs
+ What email services does OBHost offer?
OBHost offers four email solutions:

Business Email — professional email on your domain, starting from $1/mailbox/month
Enterprise Email — advanced features for teams and companies
Microsoft 365 — full Office suite with Outlook, Teams, OneDrive
Google Workspace — Gmail, Drive, Meet for professional use
+ Do hosting plans include email?
Yes — shared and reseller hosting plans include unlimited email accounts on your domain at no extra cost, managed through cPanel. However, for serious business email with higher deliverability, larger mailboxes, mobile sync and advanced features, we recommend dedicated Business Email or Microsoft 365/Google Workspace.
+ What is the difference between hosting email and Business Email?
Hosting email uses the same server as your website — it's included free but has limited mailbox size (typically 1-5 GB) and lower deliverability. Business Email is hosted on dedicated mail infrastructure with better anti-spam filtering, larger mailboxes (25-50 GB), enterprise-grade security, and much better deliverability to Gmail/Outlook inboxes.
+ Can I use my existing domain with email hosting?
Yes — all OBHost email services work with your existing domain name. You'll need to update MX records (we provide simple setup instructions), and optionally configure SPF, DKIM and DMARC for best deliverability. Support can assist with setup free of charge.
+ Is Microsoft 365 better than Google Workspace?
Both are excellent — the choice depends on your preferences:

Microsoft 365 — if you rely on Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams
Google Workspace — if you prefer Gmail, Google Docs/Sheets/Meet

Both offer enterprise-grade reliability and security. OBHost can provision either and help with migration from your current provider.
+ What is SPAM Filtering and is it included?
Yes — all OBHost email services include enterprise-grade spam filtering that uses machine learning, reputation databases, Bayesian analysis, and policy-based filtering. You can adjust spam thresholds and whitelist/blacklist addresses per mailbox. Separate paid "Advanced Threat Protection" is available for businesses needing extra protection.
+ Can I migrate email from my current provider?
Yes — OBHost offers free email migration from most providers including Gmail, Outlook, Yahoo, GoDaddy, Bluehost, or any IMAP-accessible mailbox. Our team handles the migration via IMAP-sync or tools like IMAPSync, typically with zero email loss and minimal downtime.
+ Why do my emails go to spam?
Emails landing in spam are usually caused by:

Missing SPF/DKIM/DMARC records — these authenticate your domain
• Low sender reputation (new domains need to warm up)
• IP address on blacklists (we monitor and remediate)
• Suspicious content (marketing language, too many links)
• Recipient marked previous emails as spam

OBHost support can analyse deliverability and recommend fixes.
Software Licensing

Licenses

cPanel, Plesk, DirectAdmin, Microsoft SPLA and other licensing questions.

8 FAQs
+ What licenses does OBHost resell?
OBHost is an authorised reseller/partner for:

cPanel/WHM — industry-standard hosting control panel
Plesk — popular hosting control panel for Windows and Linux
DirectAdmin — lightweight control panel alternative
Microsoft SPLA — Windows Server, SQL Server, Exchange, RDS CALs (monthly)
Microsoft Indirect — perpetual Microsoft licenses via CSP
SQL Server — Standard, Web, Enterprise editions
+ What is Microsoft SPLA?
SPLA (Service Provider Licensing Agreement) is Microsoft's licensing program for service providers. It allows OBHost to rent you monthly Microsoft software licenses (Windows Server, SQL Server, Exchange, etc.) tied to hosting services. SPLA is monthly billing, no upfront cost, and scales with your usage. Perfect for VPS and dedicated server customers.
+ What is Microsoft Indirect (CSP)?
Microsoft Indirect (also called CSP Indirect Reseller) is the program for selling perpetual and annual Microsoft licenses — including Microsoft 365 subscriptions, Office LTSC, Windows desktop licenses, and Azure credits. Different from SPLA which is monthly usage-based. OBHost is an authorised Microsoft Indirect Partner.
+ Can I use my own Microsoft license on an OBHost VPS?
This is complex — Microsoft's licensing terms restrict BYOL (Bring Your Own License) for most products. Windows Server and SQL Server licenses purchased at retail cannot be legally used on shared cloud infrastructure without Software Assurance + License Mobility. Contact our Microsoft licensing team for a compliant solution — we can advise the best approach for your scenario.
+ How is cPanel licensing priced?
cPanel licensing is based on the number of accounts you host:

Admin (up to 5 accounts) — lowest tier for small VPS
Pro (up to 30 accounts) — mid-tier
Premier (100+) — for larger hosts/resellers, scales with account count

Monthly billing with no setup fees. Prices vary — see our cPanel pricing page.
+ What is the difference between cPanel and Plesk?
cPanel is the industry standard for Linux hosting — widely supported, mature ecosystem, used by millions of hosts. Linux-only.

Plesk supports both Linux and Windows Server, has a modern interface, strong security features, and better Windows/ASP.NET support. Choice depends on your OS and preferences.
+ Are licenses refundable?
License refunds depend on the product and usage:

Unused licenses within 14 days — refundable
Monthly licenses already activated — non-refundable for the current period, but you can cancel to stop future billing
Microsoft SPLA licenses — tied to monthly billing, cancellable but not refundable mid-cycle
+ Can I transfer my license to another server?
Yes — most licenses can be transferred to a different server, subject to the specific licensing terms:

cPanel/Plesk — easily transferable via the license management panel
Microsoft SPLA — tied to the specific hosting instance, contact support for transfers
DirectAdmin — transferable with limitations

Open a ticket and we'll handle the transfer.

See full Terms of Service for details.
+ How do I request a refund?
To request a refund:

1. Log into your client area
2. Submit a ticket to the Billing department with your invoice number
3. State the reason for the refund
4. Our billing team will review within 24-48 hours

Approved refunds are processed back to the original payment method within 7-10 business days.
+ Can I pay for multiple years in advance?
Yes — most hosting plans, domains, and SSL certificates support 1-year, 2-year, 3-year and longer billing cycles. Longer commitments usually come with a discount (up to 40-50% off on 3-year plans). You can also choose quarterly, semi-annual, or monthly billing depending on the product.
+ What happens if I don't pay on time?
If an invoice isn't paid by the due date:

Day 1 overdue: First reminder sent
Day 3 overdue: Service suspended (shared hosting)
Day 7-14 overdue: Final reminder
Day 15+ overdue: Service terminated, data deleted after 7 days

Domains: renewal reminders sent 30, 14, 7 and 1 day before expiry. Always keep payment methods current to avoid data loss.
+ What is account balance and how does it work?
Account balance is prepaid credit you can add to your OBHost account — from $10 minimum. This credit automatically applies to future invoices, making it easy to avoid payment failures and late fees. Account balance is non-refundable but never expires.
+ Can I cancel my service anytime?
Yes — you can cancel any service at any time through your client area:

1. Go to Services
2. Select the service
3. Click Request Cancellation
4. Choose End of Billing Period (service stays active until end of current period) or Immediate (cancelled right away, no refund for remaining days)
+ Are there any hidden fees or setup charges?
No — OBHost believes in transparent pricing with no hidden fees. The price you see is the price you pay (plus applicable taxes in your jurisdiction). Exception: dedicated servers with custom configurations may have a one-time setup fee, which is always clearly stated before purchase.
+ What is a chargeback and what happens if I do one?
A chargeback is when you dispute a payment with your bank/card issuer after paying. OBHost strongly prefers customers contact support first for refunds. If a chargeback is received:

• All services on the billing account are immediately suspended
• A $25 chargeback processing fee applies
• OBHost will contest the chargeback with evidence
• Future orders from the same customer may require verification

Always contact support@obhost.org first — we'll work out a solution.
+ How can I track my order status?
All orders and their status are visible in your client area under Services and Billing → Orders. Status types include: Pending (awaiting payment), Pending Payment Confirmation (payment being verified), Active (service running), Suspended, Terminated. You'll also receive email updates at each status change.
+ Do you offer discounts for non-profits, students or startups?
Yes — OBHost supports educational and charitable organisations. We offer:

NGO Hosting — discounted hosting for registered non-profits
Student Hosting — special pricing for verified students
Startup credits — limited-time offers for newly-founded companies

Contact sales with documentation (501(c)(3), student ID, business registration) for verification.
+ Can I get an invoice for my company name?
Yes — invoices include the company name and billing details you provide in your OBHost account profile. Update these under Account Details → Personal/Company Information. VAT/GST numbers can be added for EU/UK/AU customers. For custom invoicing requirements (purchase orders, specific formats), contact billing support.

No, absolutely not. OBHost has never sold, rented or traded customer data to advertisers, data brokers, or any third party. We only share data with necessary service providers (payment processors, domain registries, legal authorities under valid process). See §5 of our Privacy Policy.
+ What security measures does OBHost use?
Our security stack includes:

TLS 1.2/1.3 encryption for all connections
AES-256 encryption at rest
Two-factor authentication (2FA) for client area
DDoS protection at network level
Firewall & IDS/IPS on all servers
Regular security audits and penetration testing
PCI-DSS Level 1 payment processing
Malware scanning on shared hosting
RBAC and audit logs for staff access
+ How do I enable 2-factor authentication (2FA)?
To enable 2FA on your OBHost client area:

1. Log into my.obhost.net
2. Go to Account Security → Two-Factor Authentication
3. Scan the QR code with Google Authenticator, Authy, or any TOTP app
4. Enter the 6-digit code to verify
5. Save your backup codes in a secure location

2FA is strongly recommended for all customers.
+ Are backups included with my hosting?
Yes — all shared and reseller hosting plans include automated daily backups retained for 7-14 days depending on the plan. VPS and dedicated customers can request managed backup add-ons. However, we strongly recommend maintaining your own independent backups — no backup service is 100% foolproof.
+ What happens to my data if I cancel?
After account cancellation:

First 30 days — data is retained in case you want to reactivate
After 30 days — data is permanently deleted from active systems
Backups — off-site encrypted backups are purged within 90 days

If you need data preserved longer (legal hold, forensic needs), contact support before cancelling.
+ What should I do if my account is hacked?
Act immediately:

1. Change all passwords (client area, cPanel, FTP, database)
2. Enable 2FA on your client area
3. Contact OBHost support urgently — mark ticket as [SECURITY-URGENT]
4. Our security team will review logs, scan for malware, and assist remediation
5. Update any WordPress/CMS passwords and revoke compromised API keys

We can help investigate and restore clean backups.
+ Does OBHost scan for malware?
Yes — OBHost runs ClamAV + Imunify360 malware scanners on shared hosting servers. Detected malware is quarantined automatically. Notifications are sent to the account owner. For VPS/dedicated, malware scanning is the customer's responsibility unless managed support is purchased.
+ How do I report abuse or security issues?
For different issue types:

Abuse reports (spam, phishing from OBHost IPs) — abuse@obhost.org
DMCA/Copyrightabuse@obhost.org
Security vulnerabilities (in OBHost systems) — info@obhost.net
Law enforcementabuse@obhost.org
Privacy/GDPRabuse@obhost.org
